“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.” – 1 Timothy 4:12 (NIV)
Friday, August 12
Many of you have just ended your first week back to school. For some of you, it was fairly simple. However, a few of you may have had your share of struggles. Many of these struggles may have come from simply trying to get back in the “groove” of a schedule. Some may have struggled against homework. There are even a few that may have ran into spiritual struggles. Regardless of what you faced this week, God was with you – even if it didn’t always feel like it.
As you go into this weekend, reflect on our verse this week – especially the part about being an “example” for other believers. Did you struggle with this? Did you do your best to be Christ-like in all things? Or did you simply just go about your week without truly considering whether or not you were being Christ to those around you? Don’t underestimate the impact you have on friends and classmates – you never know who’s day you can make, or break, simply by the way you treat them in a moment of unrecognized need.
My prayer for you this weekend will be for you to fully recognize the impact you can have on our community, and how you can be Christ to those around you. After all, if you don’t show them Christ’s love today, who will?
